National Celiac Disease Awareness Day.
September 13th is National Celiac Disease Awareness Day.
Celiac disease is a genetic autoimmune disorder affecting roughly 3 million Americans, making it so they can't consume gluten.
Gluten is known to cause celiac disease, but can it cause other skin problems?
For some, gluten causes the immune system to overreact, causes inflammation, and can lead to a variety of allergic and immune type reactions, especially on the skin.
Around 15% to 25% of people with celiac have dermatitis herpetiformis, a painful, itchy rash anywhere on the body. Other skin conditions triggered by gluten may be eczema, psoriasis, acne, chronic dry skin, hives, and alopecia areata. For some reason, they affect those with celiac disease more often than the general population.
Our products by Hale & Hush are free of gluten, because it isn't just about what you put in your body, but also what you put on it.
